PROJECT OF ROBOTIC HEAD
called EMYS
The popularity of various personal electronic devices is growing up by the year. The manufacturers of computer software, mobile phones, personal computers, and even cameras are equipping these devices with elements of artificial intelligence, that increase their functionality. The personal agents appearing on the screens of our computers offer us overwhelming hints and advices intended to help us to better use the product.
At the same time, multiple robotics projects are developed, aimed at providing the humans with friendly robots permanently accompanying them in their daily lives. Robotic agents endowed with basic competencies could play the role of caretakers, attendants, guides or entertainers.
The establishment and maintenance of the robot-human communication, both verbal and non-verbal, depend essentially on capabilities of naturally and plausibly showing emotions by generating facial expressions by the robot face.
EMYS was designed and made in European Project LIREC 7FP at Wroclaw University of Technology.
